FAQ
What is CodeYears?
CodeYears is a completely free Chrome extension that turns the daily contributions visible to your GitHub session into a city on a profile page. The first release focuses on City; no separate website application is required.
Where can I install CodeYears?
Install the published version from the official Chrome Web Store listing, or download version 0.1.1 from the GitHub Release linked on this page. The 0.1.1 store update was submitted for review on November 4, 2026; store approval is separate from GitHub publication. Edge installation has not yet been verified.
Does CodeYears need a token?
No GitHub token or CodeYears account is needed. After you open City, the extension requests GitHub contribution pages using your existing GitHub session. Counts and identity-scoped yearly caches are processed locally; the developer receives no contribution data.
How do I refresh data or get help?
Use More in City to refresh the selected years or clear the current viewer's cache for that profile. Language can be changed in More or the extension's Options page. For help, email xingyu.wang@gmail.com or open a GitHub issue; do not include private activity, tokens, cookies or a full cache. Code is MIT-licensed; artwork has separate terms described in the repository's ASSETS.md.
