Yijian Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-10-09
This policy describes Yijian 0.1.0, the free iPhone version being prepared by Xingyu Wang. Yijian has not been publicly released. Updated on October 9, 2026; the policy will be reviewed against the version submitted to the App Store. Contact: xingyu.wang@gmail.com.
Writing and local data
Yijian stores your writing, paragraph roles, styles, personal seals, default preferences, drafts, recovery copies, undo copies, and sync state in the app's local data area. Typesetting, collection search, and PNG generation run on your iPhone. No separate Yijian account is required. The app has no developer-operated content server, advertising, third-party analytics SDK, or cross-app tracking.
iCloud and Apple services
When your system iCloud account and service are available, Yijian uses Apple CloudKit in the foreground to save and retrieve finished notes, seals, and default preferences in your private iCloud database. This includes content, styles, seals, random sync identifiers, modification times, and removal markers. Home-screen drafts and recovery copies do not participate in the app's CloudKit sync. iOS and iCloud system backups are separate services governed by your system settings and Apple's terms. CloudKit transfer leaves the device; this policy does not promise that all data remains local or uses end-to-end encryption. The developer has no administrative access to your private cloud content through Yijian and receives no copy on a developer server.
Account information and sync controls
The app reads a CloudKit app-specific account record identifier and stores it locally to bind sync data to the correct account. It does not read your Apple account password or ask for your Apple account name or email address. Manage Yijian's iCloud access in iOS Settings. Disabling access, signing out, or going offline stops sync; local data and pending operations remain and may sync when access returns. View the status and retry in the app's settings (杂记 → iCloud). There is currently no separate in-app sync switch or button to erase all cloud data. Apple processes iCloud service data under its privacy policy and service terms.
Sharing, saving images, and permissions
Only when you start sharing does Yijian hand device-generated PNG pages to the iOS share sheet. You choose the receiving app, recipient, or Save Image action. Yijian does not read your photo library. Any permission needed to save images is handled by iOS and can be managed in Settings. The receiving app or service handles shared copies under its own policies. Copies already sent or saved to Photos are not deleted when a note is removed from Yijian.
Raw backups and fonts
If local data cannot be read, you may choose to back up the raw JSON data through the system share sheet. This backup can include writing, drafts, seals, recovery copies, removed items, and sync information. Choose a trusted destination; the backup is not automatically sent to the developer. LXGW WenKai is bundled with the app. Some system fonts may be downloaded through Apple's font APIs; this does not send your writing to the developer.
Removal, undo, and retention
Removing a note hides it from the normal collection but retains its content and recovery information locally for Undo removal. This is not permanent erasure. After a successful sync, the current cloud note record is replaced by a removal marker without its body; identifiers and times remain for sync. Undoing removal restores the note and syncs it again. If offline or sync fails, the previous cloud content may still exist. Removing a seal removes it from the seal box and queues a removal marker; previously stamped notes retain their seal snapshots. The app currently has no interface to erase all local undo copies or all cloud records. Apple's backup, retention, and final deletion timing follow its service rules.
Uninstalling and managing copies
Uninstalling the app may remove local data but does not clear iCloud copies. Reinstalling with the same iCloud account may restore cloud notes that have not been removed. Use the iCloud storage-management options provided by your system to manage cloud data; availability depends on your iOS version. Save any work you need before removing data. The developer cannot retrieve or erase your private iCloud content on your behalf.
Diagnostics and support correspondence
The app records operation names, error domains, and error codes in device system logs to help diagnose storage and sync failures. It does not place note bodies, detailed error descriptions, or raw archives in those logs, and has no automatic upload of these logs to a developer service. Apple's system diagnostics follow Apple's rules and your settings. If you email xingyu.wang@gmail.com, the developer receives the address, message, and attachments you choose to send and uses them to respond and resolve the issue. Provide only what is necessary and remove private content. Correspondence is retained only as needed for support and applicable legal obligations; contact the same address to request its deletion. Email delivery and storage are handled by the email providers involved, including Gmail for this support address.
This website and policy updates
This policy describes the app. The product and support website is hosted on Vercel and uses Vercel Web Analytics; web visits may generate service logs and aggregate page-visit statistics. These website services do not access your notes inside the app or your private CloudKit database. They are separate from the app's data handling and follow the providers' applicable policies. If a later app version adds services or changes data handling, this policy will be updated and its App Store privacy disclosures reviewed before release.
